Worship at St James: On Sunday, September 20th, we had a trial reopening of our worship space. Our reopening team gathered and walked us through the new rubrics for gathering and worship. Please watch our video outlining changes and requirements to join us for in-person worship beginning Sunday, September 27th. We look forward to joining you in community, whether online or in the church.

Next Sunday, September 27th, worship will be open to those who have wish to attend (on a first come, first serve basis). Beginning Monday morning, you may call in to reserve your place. Reservations are open until Thursday, noon (unless we are full...at which time you will be advised of this situation and your options). Worship will be Sundays at 10:30 (Contemporary Eucharist with Music) and Wednesdays at 10:30 (BCP, said service). Both service times require reservations. Please contact the office at st.jameschurch@wightman.ca or 519-843-2141 for more information.

While you are "enjoying" your Fall cleanup, don't forget to put aside those treasures you might want to donate to The Community of St. James for our Yard Sale! Please contact the church to arrange drop off — 519-843-2141 — of materials (we are not accepting large appliances, furniture, or clothes). May we suggest "New to You" for those items we are not receiving. Thank you!

Check our St. James YouTube channel for all of our Sunday worship opportunities. You can subscribe and not miss any of our online materials!

Sunday Prayers with Bishop Susan: We invite you to join Bishop Susan and people from across the diocese and beyond for a time of worship, prayer, fellowship, and teaching. Each Sunday our diocesan service will stream live at 2 pm on our diocesan Facebook page and then will be posted on our YouTube channel. On the third Sunday of the month the service will include spiritual communion.

Challenge Factor: LET'S CELEBRATE! Thank you to everyone who is so generously supporting this.
More bills were adopted again this week!
Go ahead! Have a peek at the photo of our Challenge Factor Board. We are up to date on commitments but, of course, none of us has had a chance to choose any more challenges. Is there a bill calling your name today? If so, make a note and send us an email so we can change a few of these over to "Adopted" status. We are holding our own at St. James — thanks be to God for each and every one of you who has remained faithful in givings. But, as our Bishop has reminded us, this is a marathon, not a sprint. We need to remain vigilant in our care for our ministries, our congregation, and our staff.

YOUR GIFTS MATTER! Please read on...

Our region is now in Stage 3 of the Pandemic Emergency and things are starting to feel a little more relaxed and a little more dangerous, seemingly simultaneously! At St. James, we too are beginning to feel and plan for change.

Our finances are in relatively good shape, considering that rentals and fundraisers have been suspended. Our direct deposit givings are doing well but our envelope givings seem to have fallen behind. We understand that everyone is feeling a bit vulnerable — health-wise, socially, and financially — and do not want anyone to stretch beyond their means. If, however, you have been waiting to send in or deliver your envelopes, now is the time! Thank you, in advance, for supporting this community. What we receive in your gifts is the ability to maintain our staff, building, and property as agents of love and ministry in our community!

If you have lost income as a result of closures, and need to reduce or suspend your PAP gift to the Church, please contact the office at 519-843-2141, st.jameschurch@wightman.ca asking Doug or Caroline to get in touch with you. Please note that phone messages at the office will be checked, but not frequently. Email is checked daily.

Despite the suspension of services, many Parish expenses continue. And individual donations through envelopes and offering received during worship services is a significant portion of our revenue. If your income is stable, and it is within your means to do so, please support your Parish.

Please send your envelope or gift by mail to St. James Church, PO Box 93, Fergus, ON N1M 2W7. If you wish to drop off your gift, you can deposit it in the mailbox at the office door, Monday to Friday, before 2 pm. Please do not leave it in the mailbox on the weekend. You might also consider changing your method of donation to PAP, if only for this different time. Know that your generosity is what allows us to weather this storm!

Other ways you can give to our ministry
• by direct fund transfer to etransferstj@gmail.com
• through CanadaHelps.org on a secure page dedicated to St. James, Fergus
• through the https://niagaraanglican.ca/donate (with lower fees than CanadaHelps)

Thank you for your ongoing generosity and care!

This year’s Ride for Refuge is going to look a bit different than previous years.

Since PWRDF began participating in this annual event six years ago, many supporters have walked or cycled to raise more than $130,000 for PWRDF. This year to protect everyone’s health, Ride for Refuge will take place with smaller, COVID-19 friendly groups and Ride for Refuge is introducing a new way to participate: RIDE Freestyle. There are more ways than ever to participate and raise money. You can choose one of 15 RIDE Freestyle Fundraising activities.

You can still select the classic 5 km walk, or the 10, 25, or 50 km bike ride. But this year you can also volunteer in your community, kayak or rock climb, play video games or even bake for refuge. The Primate, Archbishop Linda Nicholls, will be singing hymns for refuge, and taking requests soon.
